Hey there, everyone!
We’ve got tons of news for you. We know you’ve been waiting for this!
Before we get started, I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Marc “Stratos,” and I’m one of the newest members of the team. My role focuses on art and design. I was a player back when La Prisión first started, and this game shaped a big part of my teenage years—just like it did for many of you, I’m sure.
One day, while browsing the internet, I stumbled upon this community, and I was so surprised that I contacted the team that very same day to offer my help in any way I could, even though I had zero experience with design in projects of this kind.
As many of you already know, a large part of the team consists of people who aren’t directly involved in video game development and who spend a significant portion of our free time on this. I say this because we’re the first ones who’d love to be able to give you updates much more frequently, and we know that right now, that’s not the case.
Now you’re probably thinking, “Cut the crap and show us some updates, damn it!
” Well, here we go!
Introduction
In my department, we’re currently working on mapping the entire prison—whether it’s modeling areas and objects, redistributing the map, scaling zones, positioning cameras, etc.
Our main goal was initially to largely preserve the essence of the old prison, with maps that are very similar and areas that, at first glance, remind you of what the Prison once was.
The game had a special magic, and that’s what we want to preserve. However, realistically speaking, new technologies and the ability to create the map entirely in 3D open up a range of possibilities that didn’t exist in the previous prison:
· Creating interactive maps that feel more alive.
· Eliminating the need for so many cameras in small areas, which sometimes made navigating the map a hassle (remember the library?).
· Add “NPCs” that interact with the map.
In addition to modeling the maps, we’re spending a lot of time modeling all the objects that were part of the prison, one by one… so you can imagine the amount of work that entails. (Think back and remember the objects in the pottery workshop, for example.)
Well, I’m going to show you a sneak peek at some of the things we’ve already finished; it’s a glimpse into the work we’re doing to keep the “hype” flowing inside you.
Object Modeling
I’m adding two images and a summary of the creation process for two objects that are part of the Gym, in this case:
· Reference image of the old prison and searching for other images online to recreate the model.
· 3D modeling with Maya and UV mapping.
· Different materials are added to the object so that in Unreal it can be given different characteristics (for example, on the drink machine, the black part will be part of a metallic area, and the pink part will be illuminated to simulate the machine’s front panel).
· Textures are created for the designated areas in the UV maps.
· Finally, it is added to the mapping in UE4, and the material with the characteristics for in-game rendering is created.

Maps
In addition to the objects, we want to show you some of the maps we’ve created so far. As you know, we’re in a very early phase of the game and everything is subject to change; we’re simply showing them to you so you can get a sense of the idea we have in mind and so you can also tell us what you think.

BONUS TRACK
We have so much more! But be patient… we’ll try to give you more content as we move forward with the project. This has only been the beginning!
Well, since it’s been a while since we’ve shared any updates, we’ll add a few details that you’re sure to like.
The first image features a little "Easter Egg" that will remind you of a story involving some of the game's skill trainers.
Do the names of the boxers participating in the match ring a bell?

Second, some humorous details: Would you like a can of Paga-Fantas, or would you prefer a Chaparade?

And finally, to capture the essence of what it once was, here’s a before-and-after image of one of the areas, so you can see that we’re trying to capture even the smallest details.

To wrap up, on a personal note, I want to thank you all for your unwavering support in every way and for seeing that more and more of us are eager to relive what this wonderful game once was.
I assure you that your encouragement and energy are incredibly important to us; they make us even more eager to work on this project every day.
Hugs to everyone!
