February Event (Registration + Things to Try)

Published on February 20, 2023by[GameMaster] ZiKoPaTa4 min read

Hello, prisoners!

We’re just a few days away from launching the servers for the event scheduled for February 25, where we’ll be able to test what we’ve been working on since the last event.

LAST CHANCE TO REGISTER FOR THE EVENT

The event is just around the corner, so on the 23rd at 11:59 PM (Spanish Time), the access codes for the February 25 event will be generated; therefore, those who register later WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE EVENT.

We recommend that you don’t wait until the last minute to register, and those of you who are already registered should check that you have access to your account.

THE EVENT

The event will consist of testing the new advancements made over the last month and a half of work, which we detail below:

WHY IS EVERYTHING IN ENGLISH?

We want IMPRISONED to reach as many people as possible, so we’re developing the game to support multiple languages. By default, it’s easier to program in English, which is why most of the interface is in that language (though you may still find some parts in Spanish).

The game will be released natively in Spanish and English, but for now, we will only provide in-game support in English. Even so, you can contact us and ask any questions in Spanish.

NEW REMASTERED USER INTERFACE (PROVISIONAL)

As you saw in the previous test, we used the original interface from La Prisión as a stopgap. We’re sticking with the same approach for now until we have our own interface to use. This time, we’re using remastered versions of that interface, so it looks much better than the original. As you can see, they still bear the name La Prisión Reloaded. Basically, we need to check that everything works as it should and that all the buttons lead where they’re supposed to.

CHARACTER MANAGEMENT

One of the major new features is that we now have a character management menu that lets you create up to 3 characters and view all their attributes. We’ll need to test that it’s fully functional, that you can create a PC in all the slots, and that you can delete them.

CHARACTER CREATION

From the character creation screen, we can create characters to our liking, choosing each physical trait. Run tests and verify that all selected traits display correctly in-game.

This is a very early version of the system, so it will change significantly as we develop future versions.

AREA MODIFICATIONS

– Several areas you saw in the previous test have received some improvements; for example, all doors have been modified, lighting has been improved (though there is still a lot of work to be done in this regard), and they have been filled with some objects to liven them up a bit. You can verify that all doors are functioning correctly.

NEW AREAS

– One of the areas our colleague Mayduke has been working on is the workshop area, which includes the Mechanical Workshop, the Pottery Workshop, etc…

NEW ACTION BAR

We want to modernize the functionality of the original game, and to do so, we’re improving the action bar to make it work more like other MMOs. Now we’ll have 4 bars (accessible via the arrows to the right of the bar), where we can configure which action is in each slot, as well as its keyboard shortcut.

Currently, you cannot change the keyboard shortcuts through the user interface, but for the more adventurous among you, we encourage you to take a look at the file %LocalAppData%PrisonSavedConfigWindowsGameUserSettings.ini

This file is created automatically when you first launch the game.

There you’ll find several settings. We’ll highlight three of them:

bChatBlur
bSkillButtonShowShortcut
GameActionInputs

For now, we have the same actions as in the original game, such as talking, fighting, or examining, but over time we will be adding new abilities, such as emotes, player macros, and some non-combat skills, which we will keep you updated on.

All actions on that bar have a command version, though not vice versa. That is, there are commands that can only be entered via the console. Type /help in chat to get a list of all available commands.

Why not try /dance to start getting familiar with this system?

COMBAT

We present the first iteration of combat. In this case, we’re more concerned with the system for creating unique instances and how the server and client manage them, so almost all the work is under the hood.

Don’t expect to find a system of rules, offenses, or statistics; however, you will be able to earn badges from the players you defeat and the satisfaction of taking down bots.

  • You can fight each other (Player vs. Player)
  • You can fight against a bot (Player vs. Environment)
  • You can fight multiple players against a bot
  • You can battle multiple players against multiple players (Battles)

Although it’s a very early version, it’s fully functional. This is where it needs to be tested the most:

  • We need to verify that when a fight starts, it correctly enters the instanced zone.
  • We need to test that when the bot dies, it leaves the instanced area at the end of the turn.
  • You need to verify that when the bot dies, it respawns correctly.
  • You need to check if you can correctly flee the fight.

There is also a bot in the courtyard that can restore your health. We need to verify that when you talk to it, your health is restored.

In short, it is important to test each and every one of these aspects, and if a bug is found, try to reproduce it to determine exactly when the bug occurs so that our programmers can identify the problem.

We thank in advance everyone who will be participating in the test,

See you on the 25th behind bars!

Best regards!

The Imprisoned Team
