Hello, prisoners, NeoVroloK here.
It’s been a while since I last shared a preview of the maps with you, so this time we’re going to take a deep dive into the bathroom and shower area. This area is quite spacious because it combines two sections—one of which is large and where you’ll eventually encounter a variety of enemies of different levels.
We’ve put special care into restoring the old/original graffiti in the map, which involved a lot of reconstruction and editing work. We’re also optimizing the lighting in the new areas to make them more expressive, just like we did in Algibes. We’re also optimizing particle systems, such as water droplets or puddles on the ground, since these are all distinct from one another and are optimized at the shader level so your computer doesn’t struggle when loading them.
The geodata/pathing that players walk on has also been optimized to prevent the character from getting stuck in doors, and special care has been taken to ensure that the camera system doesn’t hide any areas where the player might be occluded.
Real-time lighting also makes the skylight’s lights and shadows look realistic, though there’s a bit of post-processing magic to make the shadows softer and more natural.
Here are some screenshots so you can see how this fantastic area turned out. And I’ll give you a sneak peek: we’re already working on the next area, the trash yard.
